This is a playful military piece that starts in 5/4 but changes between time signatures. The opening woodwind motif is answered back by a quote from the full orchestra. This conversation continues before the music changes to a military march with a tongue-in cheek feel. The opening 5/4 theme repeats, this time with strings, giving an almost Aaron Copland feel to the music and the piece comes to satisfying dramatic conclusion.
This music could either be used dramatically in a kind of retro fashion or would be perfect used in a comic way, for animations or production with a comic military scene.
