The German Robert Schumann (1810 – 1856) is considered one of the greatest Romanticists of his time. The typical Schumann style is especially evident in his piano compositions. Particularly in the lyrical character pieces, including his famous ‘Kinderszenen’(Opus 15) with a mostly poetic atmosphere, a great flexibility and an imaginative freedom in form, harmony and melody. Schumann referred to his ‘Scenes from a Childhood’ as cheerful, soft and melodic music. Particularly number 7, Träumerei, is well known.
