Mount Olympus
Mount Olympus is an orchestral fanfare in ternary form. Majestic, grand, and regal, this composition captures the excitement needed for many projects!
The opening statement establishes the key of Eb and Maestoso style of the piece. The primary melodic material gets passed around the upper strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments throughout the A section, accompanied by ornamental percussion. The contrasting B section shifts to a minor tonality and is more lyrical in nature, using legato techniques to create a different mood in the music. When the A section returns, the music feels triumphant as the initial melodic material reinstates familiar themes. The composition concludes in a widely spread Eb major chord, representing the high reaching peaks of Mount Olympus.
