Saint-Saëns based his tone poem on a legend in which “Death” appears at midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn.. This version is Edwin Lemare’s 1919 arrangement for pipe organ. Perfect for all things Halloween!
