Ken Mecca serves as an alias for Justin Ponce and his musical adventures.
Born and raised in a San Jose suburb, Justin started exploring music at age seven by copying by ear what his sister played from her piano lessons. Acoustic guitar lessons at 15 became lead electric guitar lessons by 17.
He picked up bass guitar senior year of high school to fill a void in his jazz combo class. His senior project involved the composition and recording of a rock song performed by him and his close friends. Everyone went their separate ways after high school ended.
At age 19, Justin became hungry for foreign music and took a lead from another high school friend. They hooked up with a Farsi-speaking rock band with Justin as the bassist and his friend as the violinist and sound controller. The band ultimately collapsed from power struggles among its 6 members. Bass still remains a hobby of his.
After playing with Fruity Loops 6 and Logic Pro at amateur levels, Justin desired to take electronic music production more seriously. Almost 7 years later, Justin uses FL Studio 11 and makes advanced usage of the program. Attempting to squeeze through a market saturated with others like him, Justin hopes to someday have a place among some of the best.
