“The Poet Speaks” by Robert Schumann is from the set “Kinderszenen” or “Scenes from Childhood.” In this work, Schumann provides us with his adult reminiscences of childhood. Schumann had originally written 30 movements for this work, but chose 13 for the final version.
This piece has an elegant feel, and can add a feeling of nobility or class to a scene or project. The is also pensive, contemplative, and intellectual in nature, and can be used as background music when a character is thinking.
