If I were doing a documentary and needed a short ident, this is the one I would want. It’s the last phrase from “Amazing Grace” – the lyrics that go with it are ”’twas blind, but now I see.” It is one of the most well-known tunes in the English speaking world. I couldn’t think of a better way to musically sum up the point of a documentary, or the purpose of studios that produce them.
It uses bagpipes, subtle drones, pads, and light wind sound effects. Very serious, reverent, and resolute. Just under 15 seconds with a fadeout.
