Mussorgsky The Castle

Mussorgsky The Castle

Music Description

Pictures at an Exhibition (Pictures from an Exhibition – A Remembrance of Viktor Hartmann; French: Tableaux d’une exposition) is a suite in ten movements (plus a recurring, varied Promenade) composed for piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky in 1874.

The original picture depicts a troubadour singing in front of a medieval castle. The piece immediately brings the listener into medieval times – or a far away land, making it great for a fantasy or period piece.
