The Serenade for Strings No. 13 in G major, KV 525 is a piece of music from 1787, written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The work is better known as Eine kleine Nachtmusik, which means ‘A small serenade’, but is also often translated as ‘a Little Nightmusic’.
It was written for a chamber music ensemble consisting of two violins, viola and cello, possibly supplemented by a double bass. The piece is also often performed by string orchestras. Eine kleine Nachtmusik is one of Mozart’s most popular works. It is not known why or for whom Mozart composed this piece of music. He wrote the piece in 1787, when he was also working on his opera Don Giovanni. The work was not published until 1827, 36 years after Mozart’s death in 179
