The piece begins with a thumping brass and percussion ostinato figure, ominous and full of portent, building the tension to about halfway through when a triumphant and sweeping theme is stated on brass, later joined by sweeping violins.
The music reaches a dramatic climax, where the whole orchestra crescendos in a increasing cacophony of sound to a dramatic final staccato chord.
