This particular far eastern apearing theme has been written in a typical chinese pentatonic scale, giving this little piece of music a very smooth and asian sounding touch. Also 2 traditional chinese instruments have been used: A small Dizi (better knowd as the Chinese bamboo flute) and a Suono (a traditional double-reed horn from the Shandong province).
At the beginning the 2 main instruments start introducing the the motiv of the compositon, while horns and soft flautando played strings support the harmonies. A flute fills the gaps between the melody and sometimes bring in an additional voicing. A harp and a Piano introduce a floating and light, airy arpeggio.
At the 2nd half more intense drums join, brining a traditional rhythme into the composition, while more horns & flutes, a celesta and feathered spiccicato strings raise the intensity. 1 main version (1:50) and 2 shorter versions (0:27) included.
