At most times our minds are used to facing only happiness, blessings and comfort. We always strive to achieve things which give us happiness and comfort, that do not eternally belong to our lives. For a mind that is not trained to think neutrally, could not think equally. It would be impossible to face the difficulties of life without weeping or mentally breaking down, in pursuing happiness without equanimity. We usually grieve when we are helpless. We cannot predict when we would have to confront such circumstances. But it is a fact that there will be such occasions in life and that would be when equanimity becomes beneficial. This was expressed in this sad piano piece, with emotional string melodies.
