“Dark and Beautiful” is a track for string orchestra with electric bass. The strings perform rich and lush harmonies that unfold gradually over the course of the track. The music begins with a deep and low unison texture, which eventually grows outwards to a full contrapuntal section of slow and beautiful melodies.
This track is designed as non-intrusive background music, with the different instruments being added gradually, as if emerging from a distance. This effect is made even more prominent in the version without the electric bass, where the the music really enters and emerges from nothing.
The music sound a bit like some of the work of Danny Elfman and John Williams, and probably the most like Mahler’s famous string adagio from his fifth symphony.
