Cut to Rock n’ Roll
Take a trip down memory lane, to the land of big hair and cutting edge new music. The Pacific Northwest played a very big part in the birth of early grunge and the new alternative rock music of the time. Mixing elements of psychedelic music, punk, pop, rock and a whole lot of attitude to help usher in a new sound at the end of the most dynamic century of music the world has seen. Cut to Rock n’ Roll is a throwback salute to the 1990’s alternative rock scene, specifically Portland, Oregon. With power chords, layered guitars, signature synths, heavy effects, driving drums and dramatic cuts this song will work well with retro scenes, montages and even cuts to credit rolls.
The big cacophony build-up in the beginning of the song is cut off by a popular reverse reverb effect made popular with a few big bands in the 1960’s and resurfaced in the 1990’s with some notable success. I’m unable to mention specific bands or songs by name here, but you may recognize certain elements that bring back some memories of the time period. This is exactly what the song was created for. A tribute to the bands who reminded us that simple, raw sounds can be appreciated still, even in the times of heavy digital influence and micro-managed mixes.
I had the pleasure of playing with one rather popular group in particular that was the inspiration for this song, and upon looking through old albums and reflecting on this new song, a lot of memories were stirred up. I hope that it does the same for you and those who enjoy the project you use it in.
Running 2:53 in length, it is ideal for use in opening credits, a main scene or in the final closing credit roll of a film or television show. If you are interested, in a shorter version for use as a theme song, supporting element in a commercial or an intro/outro for a radio or podcast show, please do not hesitate to contact us.
