Chopin Sonata No 2 Movement 3

Chopin Sonata No 2 Movement 3

Music Description

Frédéric François Chopin (22 February or 1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849), born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, was a Polish composer of paternal French descent and a virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era, who wrote primarily for the solo piano.

Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in B minor, Op. 35, popularly known as The Funeral March, symbolizes impending doom, sadness, and tragedy. The piece is often played at funerals, and was played at the funeral of John F Kennedy. In commercial culture, the piece can be used in video games when a character dies. On the other hand, it is so well known that it can be used ironically, or humorously, to exaggerate a mildly unfortunate situation in film or theatre. The piece is referenced in John Williams “The Imperial March” as well.
