The first movement of Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 2 by Ludwig van Beethoven is entitled Allegro. A tense, agitated feel is ubiquitous throughout the movement. Within the entire movement there are two primary themes: the first theme is driven by an ascending arpeggiated figure and the second theme is accompanied by eighth-note octaves in the bass.
