A bagatelle (French for “trifle”) is a small, light piece of music, usually for piano. Beethoven’s Für Elise is perhaps the best-known example of a Bagatelle. Beethoven’s first bagatelle from Opus 33, which is in the key of E-flat major, is perhaps the best known of the series of seven bagatelles he wrote in 1801.
