Haha good one. Your title made me click into this post. Pinkpanda would separate you with the other pandas.
When it comes to strings I think you have to look at reverb and space. Even the fake-est sounding string patches can be put into use with some clever reverb effects.
I find myself using lots of automations with strings as well. Despite the many switches and velocity control samplers like Kontakt player offers, I still find more control over the sound with volume automations.
I see many experienced producers here, I’m in the midst of collecting tips I can harvest out of brains of seasoned music producers. These tips will be shared to aspiring producers and beginners, so if you feel like contributing, please share your tips here: http://www.audiomentor.com/share-your-tip-100-tips-from-seasoned-music-producers ( Of course when the post goes live, I’ll credit back to your website or portfolio. Publicity, yeah! )
Love the wedding video where my track got selected for that I had to write about it. The wedding was at the Concannon Vineyard in California!: http://www.reubenchng.com/watch-wedding-video-at-concannon-vineyards-california/
Normally log on in the morning while having breakfast. Scouring for some ideas and thoughts in the forums, then head off to work.
Oh you would love knobs and sliders if you really learn how to use them. Here’s another to refer to: http://www.audiomentor.com/audioproduction/10-midi-controllers-worth-buying-in-2015
Don’t forget tutsplus too. Plenty of golden nuggets lying around those tuts.
Real shame about woodwinds not being used so much these days. It’s my favourite part of the orchestra. It seems all you get is a run here and there but the main themes are left to horns or strings Basically, it’s Hans Zimmer’s fault!
Haha! Zimmer is all dark and heavy hits.
And yeah, on my laptop I have three USB ports (quite little). So i have a USB hub that extends out to 4 USBs. So 6 USBs in total…hmm enough or not?
1. Audio Interface 2. Cubase elicenser 3. MIDI controller 4. Wireless keyboard and mouse 5. External hard disk 6. Miscellaneous (printer, extra thumbdrive, etc.)
Dang.. I finding myself running out of ports. Add another iLok?
Also I’ve read that the iLok might cause conflict when used together with the e-Licenser, is that correct? better be sure
The thing that puts me off is that you need to use the iLok, correct? No more ports on my laptop! arghhhh
On another note, how do I download my own portfolio? The option to do it seems to be missing.
