Koen van Barneveld, born on the 20th April 1987, is a young composer from the Utrecht region in the Netherlands. At the age of 6 he came into contact with music through musical education at primary school. When he was 8 Koen had his first piano lesson and his love for music was born.

Koen took 3 years of classical music tuition but figured out more and more that this was not the direction he wanted to pursue. After 3 years he met a new piano teacher and commenced studying Jazz/pop music. It was also round this time that Koen got to know the world of Film and Trailer music.

At the age of 18 Koen commenced a study at the conservatory, direction Jazz and Pop music. He joined a rock band and toured the whole of Europe. He also participated in several small initiatives and regularly performed with his school.

Soon though his interest in performing music started to decline and his interest in the art of composing started to take over. That same year Koen composed his first piece of film music and the following years he continued to develop the art of composing and arranging orchestral music.

Currently Koen is specializing himself in composing trailer music. Distinctive for trailer music is the short but powerful impression it carries. Musical pieces of only a few minutes which have to give the film trailer, in a short time, the character of the movie and at the same time leave a big impression in order to stimulate the viewer to actually go and see the movie.
