The Jerusalem Syndrome = a group of mental phenomena involving the presence of either religiously themed obsessive ideas, delusions or other psychosis-like experiences that are triggered by a visit to the city of Jerusalem. (www.wikipedia.org)

The Jerusalem Syndrome is…

...a mysterious and dark exotic track, with a Middle Eastern sound and flavor, created with the help of authentic instruments like ethnic percussion and oud. The sound of a kora was also used to enhance the mystic effect. The track begins with a cinematic, almost industrial drum beat, only to be accompanied by a dark, ominous pad and uneasy strings, playing melodies in the ancient traditional Hebrew Klezmer scales. The combination of modern and electronic sounds (typical of hybrid scores) with authentic Middle Eastern elements gives the music a unique character, both fascinating and dangerous.

Useful for…

...basically any type of visual dealing with subjects related to the Middle East: from its trademark geographical elements (the uncrossable desert, life-saving oasis or arid mountains) to the complex cultural and religious world (being the land where Christianity, Judaism and Islam co-exist). As the music was inspired by a psychopathological disorder, the hypnotic melodies and subtle tones make this psychedelic composition suitable for films and documentaries dealing with visions, demonic possession and exorcism or any kind of hallucinations. Also good for meditation or yoga. The steady beat will go very well with travel TV shows about exotic caravans of camel trains or maybe sword adventures with Bedouin tribes, as well as more serious and contemporary themes, such as terrorism and the Jihad.
