A sound that is a symbol of denial of interaction: trying to use tools or some kind of device but not being able to, yet trying again and again to finally give up after the third time (0:01).
It is meant as a negative confirmation feedback sound in first-person shooter or RPG games where various objects and items can be interacted with. Using one single sound is ideal to make sure that the player gets the information “this interaction was not successful”, rather than risking having different sounds for different objects, which could be interpreted in different ways. However even if individual sounds are used, this sound should be mixed into them, so that they have a similiarity and do not get confused with “this interaction was successful”.
