A slow, plaintive piece with an east Indian flavor that transports the listener to a meditative, thoughtful place. The first sounds heard are a whispering wind that causes the sound of delicate glass wind chimes to echo in the air. A hypnotic Tambura drone fades up which is followed by a simple, steady beat played on a tabla, bongos and a shaker. With the rhythm established, an ethereal flute plays the main melody, rising and falling as if carried by the wind. Each stanza of the melody is answered by a mystic refrain from a sitar and punctuated by raps of percussion. After the second playing of the main melody, a darker, more sinister segment takes over featuring a single cello and harp rising in a minor scale-like melody. The piece then returns to the serene setting of the initial melodic flute, drums, and sitar. The piece ends with a final pluck of the sitar which calls back in the wind chimes and whispering wind that fade into the distance. Ancient Wind is ideal for setting a mystic, spiritual mood to any movie, video, presentation, animation, mobile app or video game
