Hi guys,
I have an item that got approved and has had some sales. A couple of windows 7 users have contacted me to tell me that the zip file was not extracting properly, with problems in the file name structure and the encryption or something. I did some research and found that Mac zip on PC is really funky… seems like a hit or miss. In any case, I have assembled a PC version of the file to eliminate the issue on this file, I will be sending it to a customer who is requesting this.
What I’m wondering is if I should update the file on videohive with the edit tab? Has anyone else had problems like this and how do you deal with it? Should I put a note on my item page?
For my file, a quick solution was to extract using 7zip utility, seemed to work but the customer has to install… And I had to relink the files in AE cause it got severely confused.

I generally use the Mac OS zip utility. Never had any complaints from Windows or Mac users.
You could try the Freeware Zipeg for Mac.
Yes it’s very odd… I use the Mac OS zip utility as well and only on this one file some people seem to have problems. Should I update the file? If I do that, will it unpublish my item?
@miseld and @felt_tips I will try using winrar and Zipeg for future files
Thanks for your suggestions

Maybe there’s a name in there that PCs don’t like.

andrenavarre, can you upload any zip file somewhere. I can test it on several machines with different windows and one mac os.
You can update file. item will not be unpublished, you will just wait some time. Just click on edit and upload only zip file, and don’t forget to mention to reviewer what is the reason.

Same with me, I always use the mac os built-in zip software and have never had anyone with an issue. You should edit your file and resubmitted possibly to fix the problem.

I had this problem with mac os built-in zip.
I compress again on Virtual Machine Win 7 and it s work.
@dorde Thanks so much for this suggestion. It is very kind! I won’t bother you with that this time because I have fixed the problem by zipping it on a PC.
@butlerm and @flashato Thanks guys, I’ll be resubmitting the file with no worries
