Greetings to all! A little tell about myself, I am an ordinary Manager in a trading firm, and the music in my lifetime was only as a hobby. But in March month of my earnings on the site Audiojungle exceeded almost twice my salary in the company. The remarkable fact, which compelled me about the music more seriously. So I have long wanted to ask. I performed there for you to earnings in the Audiojungle good source of income or is it only a small increase to the salary. Tell me, are you in somewhere else? And whether your other work with the music. And sorry for my broken english)))

Hi Arkady,

Firstly, congrat’s on your sales so far. 300+ since September is fantastic. At the moment AJ is an outlet for my creativity outside of my day job as a Business Analyst. To be honest my immediate goal is to make some extra money to buy new music equipment. If I am able to achieve that I will be quite happy.

I just did some rough calculations and I would need over 700 sales per month to match my income so unless I become the next Tim McMorris, PinkZebra or Soundroll I won’t be handing in my resignation notice just yet.

All the best with your sales.

Congrats on all of the sales!! Before you quite a job, there would be many questions. Are the sales consistent from month to month?? Could you pay for things you need if you had a weak month? For me, I would wait until those questions can be answered for 6 months, then decide. Then again, I live in the US, and need a solid income.

I think, Dan had the perfect answer. I think you should be careful and not be in a hurry…
But I just realized that it looks like I live in the wrong country…
I sold pretty much until now, but this is almost peanuts compared to a normal salary… it just pays the half of the obligatory, too expensive health insurance for my family… :(
I’m very happy to sell more and more anyway! But unfortunately at this point it’s very far away to be able to earn enough money on AJ to cover all the monthly costs….(yet?!)

Congrats all for the sales…I recently join AJ, but my full income come from music. I’m not rich as many authors here, but I can live with it. As a music producer and studio owner, I have time to produce full time. Most of my income comes from services, like mastering, editing, and from licensing, sales and royalties from my music releases. I also run some music courses, with lessons to audio engineering, for the most. But as the others said, take the right time to follow a new way….. Don’t be hurry….

All the best!!! Simone :)

Ah, you hit on a sore spot with the health insurance thing! That is the main reason why I won’t be quitting my day job any time soon. Don’t know what it’s like in Switzerland, but in the US insurance costs are extremely high if the company you work for isn’t pitching in.

I agree with Dan as well – give it some time and save up some money before making the leap. But I tend to be quite conservative in this, and it also depends on whether you’re just responsible for yourself, or if you’ve got dependents. There are a great many more things I would risk if it were just me I needed to look out for.

Thank you all for your advice! I must admit the work provides a guarantee for the future, but the music I will never stop doing. Music forever)

Yeah, there are really only SIX!!! authors who make enough from just AudioJungle to replace a normal job, if you live in one of the more expensive countries. And that’s counting with a 70% rate selling $14 items only…

But of course, everyone’s goal should be to end up in the top – and AJ is growing all the time so I’m sure that in a year or so maybe 15-20 authors will be selling enough to replace a normal salary in an expensive country.

I should have added… I play music for a living now… In the US, you have to be diverse and versatile to sustain a career (10 yrs. for me) I do not make that much money, but it is enough to sustain my wife and I… AJ supplements my other income streams and allows me to build into my future as a musician… Basically, it is “breathing room”...

So my encouragement to you… Save it for a day when maybe you aren’t so young, or for the future, or to help someone in need… maybe one day day you can do all of those things from just writing music…

sorry for the long answer : )

Ok, sayd like this, EXACTLY the same for me… , Studio, Mix, Mastering, Audio Workshops…etc., :-) since 1994. But I couldn’t live from AJ alone…
