So.. have you tried the index.php editing, like adding a small text at the end? Is it working at least that?

A thousand thank you’s my friend! The index.php file at the root was completely blank so of course not loading the theme. In the end it was that easy, even heard the angels sing when I refreshed the site! Don’t know why that would suddenly happen but site is back up.

Thank you guys for all your inputs, I sincerely appreciate it and of course especially to wickedpixel- now I’ll go take a look at your portfolio and return the favor :).
