It would definitely be cool if there was something out there that extended the official WP importer plugin to also do widget/sidebar settings along with general WP settings. So, if anyone knows any resources, you should definitely share!

I believe he’s looking for a way to allow buyers to import his demo’s exact setup into their sites when they’ve purchased one of his themes.

oh, then they would just need to import the xml file he creates on his demo site.

Yes, but the WordPress importer does not allow for more advanced things like the setup of widgets, WordPress settings, etc… Something similar to ThemeFuse’s “one-click install” for example.
