Since this is about Apple I should also note I was always a phone entushiast. I was always looking for the latest model of phone and the most features. I ended up wanting so many phones and tempted to buy every latest phone.
Up until i figured i should see what was all the fuss about Apple. So i went to a pawn shop and bought my first iphone ( 2g ) without expecting to like it so much. But my expectactions were wrong. It was perfect . I fell in love.
So i guess Apple actually saved me money by showing me what perfect means and removing my lust for the latest models.

Agree with ZoomIt.. Got an iPhone 4 recently. Now i stopped following “Latest Phones” news. It’s just irrelevant until the next iPhone comes out..

^ That’s the great achievement of Apple / Steve Jobs. It doesn’t make customers, but believers.

I agree with @vaynah, it’s same for me since the first iPhone. Sometimes I happen to have some other phone in my hand and I still like my iPhone more because it just feels much more solid – others feel like clunky toys. My tools of choice are always the solid ones, but I understand some people can go by with mediocre tools. Remember NOKIA 3310 when it was released – that thing was solid compared to other phones at the time.

People may say that, but ultimately, the popularity is because of the product itself and nothing more. Apple loves their products and consumers can feel it and appreciate it.

Chicken or the egg I argument I guess, but IMO Apple’s overall success is largely a result of their marketing. Sure they have loyal users who are in love with the brand and will always buy Apple, but they had that before their big marketing campaigns started to run and it didn’t translate into big success then. So I’d put “status symbol” (spawned from marketing) as the #1 factor for Apple’s success, and actual product a distant second. I know Apple lovers hate hearing that, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you personally subscribe to the first category… just that the majority do.
