Hi,

Normally, I’m just a web designer/developer and WordPress user. It’s quite challenge to start developing the WordPress theme but I’m not sure where is the good place to learn.

Any advice? Thank you in advanced :)

Some good resources that I’ve used ( and still do ) for learning Word Press

WordPress Beginners – by Matt Wolfe (Excellent)
WordPress eBook – by Andrew Whol
WordPress E-Commerce Video – by Infinite Skills
WordPress Web Creation Video – by Infinite Skills
Beginners WP – by VTC
WordPress Themes – by Lynda.com

I have of course used more, but the mix above I can personally recommend.

One thing that I am looking for is a good resource on WordPress Security, if anyone knows of any, I’ve purchased a couple of books from Amazon on the topic, but they seem pretty light and don’t go into enough detail.

I recommend this book: Professional WordPress Plugin Development. It covers sanitation and validating data, and security, which is very important.

Also, studying existing themes and dissecting them for educational purposes helps.

I’ll take a look at the book for sure, this area seems to be one that very little good information is written about, as WP becomes more mainstream it also becomes increasing important to understand security (IMO). I shall review the book and forward my comments when I’ve read it. I also did a search on Youtube but again I could find very little of any value, maybe my exceptions are a little too high. But thanks for the recommend book
