My choice is canon 60d + magic lantern + Technicolor CineStyle + CINEMA Picture Style.
I’d like to try it with memory card faster than 30mb/sec, because it’s required for higher data rates, I didn’t tried that awesome ML feature yet…
I recently switched from Canon 60D to Canon 600D. Same video quality but 600D has crop mode no other Canon DSLRs have . I like it and Magic Lantern is must have addition!
If I decide to spent $3K today I probably go with Black Magic Cinema Camera (same price as Canon Mark III ). BMCC still has some disadvantages like no 50/60 frame rate etc but it attractive with RAW , high dinamic range and 2.5K.
If go further for $4K budget definitely RED ONE M -X with it’s amazing specs/cost ratio. http://www.red.com/store/products/red-one-ssd-btBest Regards, Andrey

Dorde, I tested ML on 60D/600D with upto maximum 3.0x data rate but quality not improved much.
Actually quality almost the same looks like problem with codec and the way how Canon gets Full HD from the 18mp sensor (lines skiping, scaling, ..).

Thanks Andrey for sharing your experience.
For more serious video business (with higher budget) I’d go with black magic for sure. I saw black magic videos, quality is really amazing. Since I don’t have any economic justification for it right now, I’ll stay with 60d
