The thing is, if you make a completely unique template you start to isolate the amount you can sell to, you make a generic template like most of the rest and it sells.

Uhm, that’s true most of the times. But what would this place be without some brave author trying to build something new?

I agree completely and think that it should be taken into consideration

That reminds me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pidokakU4I :)

Incredibly awesome :D and true..

Someone asked me yesterday about what i do, and after i explained a bit he asked me: “Won’t this marketplace ever come to saturation?” .. And i said: “It’s already saturated. But saturation sells well” :D

Saturation only affects authors, not buyers. In fact, if Envato finally ends up improving the search engine (as we have been requesting for long) buyers will be happy to dig into a huge marketplace.

If i want to buy a bike, i’ll be happy to arrive on a street with dozens small shops, all with same quality products, each one trying to offer more for same or lower price.

Now, we are the owners of those small shops. Sad enough for us.
And mostly when changing to other street is not an option.

Absulutely agree. Whole marketplace is set up that way that it’s supporting most selling items. Few weekly best sellers are being fed to various blogs even Themeforest adwords is pointing to the following url: http://themeforest.net/category/wordpress?utf8=?&sort_by=sales_count&categories=wordpress

It all has WOW effect to new authors, but it’s making it kind of gamble for everybody.

true story , after remove some small points , the theme is coming back to sale. TF is telling us , just copy together and changes some small points , you will get to sale.
