The search result limit to 30 pages. Is this limit determined pre-sort or after-sort logic? Like: would different sort-fields yield display of different row-sets?

The limit is after-sort, we are recalling all relevant results, ranking then cutting it at 30 pages so yes different sort fields would in most cases yield different displayed sets

Excellent. 30 pages is quite royal in that case.

To be clear our goal is to ensure that our users find what they are looking for (the most relevant and quality result for their project), that they have a positive experience and keep coming back, this should be a win win for everyone.

This is how it should be yes, but if the AJ search engine worked differently the last 4 years, and we authors adapted to that (i.e. Track Titles), it’s a bit unlucky if these previous rules do not count any longer. That means for many of us, we have a huge drop in sales since the change. Sure, one day a change has to be made and this affects everyone, but just don’t expect that people are to happy about less income at the end of the month.

The best way to help us so we can help you and the entire AudioJungle community is to continue creating quality work, title it appropriately and tag it with the most relevant tags only. Copying high selling item tags or titles will not help anyone if its not relevant to your piece.

I agree on that, copying tags that are just popular but not relevant is just silly and will not even help selling your track. But creating “only” quality work does not mean your tracks will be found Michelle. There are way to many tracks on AJ and as other allready mentioned, if your not on page one for search results, the track might never ever sell. It’s all about good music and good exposure. Once you’re in the top selling items list, then you will sell up tp 300% more. So, all this is at least as important as having a good track.

Using other author names in your tags This smells very wrong to me, I need to look into this further and get back to you.

This has not been allowed since the beginning, and if some got past review process, that’s not a big issue i think as it won’t be many. It’s not even allowed to use authors own username in the tags.

Conclusion :

While we all appreciate all the improvements and work you guys do, please just understand that some of us rely on the income from Envato. I for example had the last 1-2 years a steady income each month (going up or down 50$ max.), so if that breaks away because of some changes in the system, it’s something that bothers me ;)

Thanks and good luck with developing the search engine further.

Daniel

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your thoughts and comments here. I’ll try and address some of your concerns.

Whats happening with the search engine?
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for the update! It’s great to know that you’re listening and responding to feedback, and it seems like you’ve already made some positive changes in how the search is working. I know some of us (me) tend to flip out immediately when things are changed after adapting to a certain system, but I’m sure it will all be sorted out eventually. For example, I just had to go through and add some tags to tracks because with the old system, the title was so important that if a word was included in the title I would never put it in the tags. It seems like since even yesterday there is more of a balance between titles and tags as well.
Thank you for all the work you are doing to improve the search! :) .

Thanks Michelle for Your response. I agree with Pinkzebra that it must be crazy at your place with all the work going on right now. But the last changes you made on the search engine seem to work great and I`am sure it brought the smile back to a lot of the authors faces. Keep up the great work. You guys surely respect the authors opinion. Thanks :)

Thanks Michelle,

As you say, if people are buying more on AJ, the search engine is in the right direction.

Amen! Even just a couple of those refinement options would help tremendously…
