So, I was just complaining yesterday about how a theme’s price had jumped from $40 to $50 within a days time period. I ended up purchasing the theme today only to find out that the quality of theme is not good. There are many bugs and graphical elements that are wrong.

This isn’t the first time a theme / landing page I’ve purchased has many things that were overlooked by the reviewers. I’ll be blunt and say that it’s embarrassing and I’m really just tired of beta testing for some of the authors around here. It seems like they spend time creating a theme and don’t test it out for themselves to see if it is in working order.

What happened to quality control? Why are these things be overlooked? You know I’m an author over at Graphic River and I really do like theme forest flexibility, but as it stands now, I’m probably going to be going back to a few other theme providers that I used in the past, just because their quality control is 5 stars.

I’d really like to see more quality control with some of these themes and landing pages. We as buyers purchase themes to save time, I end up spending time fixing bugs, send the fixes to the authors, they update their theme and don’t give an ounce of credit to me for fixing their errors.

:) I will like to see the day when i get bug fixes from our customers :) It’s normal to have bugs in a complex theme, but in a one layout no flexibility theme it’s not normal, i agree.

It’s just very frustrating because you feel like your out money. Now I’m looking for a different theme that I’m going to have to spend another $35 – $50 on.

At my old job when I was a web developer bugs and errors would cost you your job. I couldn’t tell you how many developers I worked with that got fired for not testing their work and the most embarrassing part about it is when a client find the bug.

We are the clients here, but when these bugs and errors come up, there are no suitable punishment for the authors. It would make sense that Envato would create some kind of 3 strikes and your out type of system or put the authors on some kind of 90 day probation where they aren’t allowed to upload themes for those 90 days. I really think that would get a lot of these poorly thrown together themes off the market.

I’m sure if you had a theme I wanted, you’d be getting bug fixes from me. I do it all the time just so nobody else has to go through the same shit I went through.

See, that’s the problem. You already have it in the back of your mind that bugs are OKAY when creating a theme.

This point is valid only if theme doesn’t work as advertised.

All premium themes are extremely complex and are not universal. If you’re looking for advanced custom features or having issues with 3rd party code, the bugs may occur, but don’t blame it on the theme – most of the time I believe reviewers are right.

No one creates anything with the intention of having bugs to begin with. Every bit of software in the world will have its bugs. Developers (especially lone developers) can’t account for every single thing. The more complex the project, the more likely it will have bugs. That’s just life.

Contact the support team, if the theme is broken you will get a refund.

Also contact the author of the theme, most of the authors are very fast in fixing things.

Or just contact the author, often “bugs” that buyers complain about aren’t bugs at all, but just something they are doing wrong. Hope you get your issue resolved :)

I agree that $40-$50 is decent money, but when I used to purchase stock Flash I frequently had experiences where something didn’t work out for whatever reason. And from my experience that’s kind of the way things go in the stock world. You win some, you lose some, but in the end you still make out like a bandit :D
