I know That I use a kazoo, and I already said it, but I think that what he is looking for here, Is not generally what we use, but an advice. So to begin with, you need a DAW http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_workstation Then you use VSTs for your sounds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Studio_Technology Different companies offer for different prices and different quality. As well you need an Audio Interface. A sound card what ever a lot of them out there if you just search in Google. As well a lot of just just record live, mic guitar, piano, you name it. :)
