so looks like I can load external wav files with the help of third party classes. Wav is too big though. I think I am going to convert the mp3s I have to m4a and use netstream to play them. I am having an issue with mp3s loading externally on my clients old windows based cash registers in their stores. M4V files play just fine, so fingers crossed that m4a works too

I’m not sure but I believe flash reads also AAC files.

Apparently flash can read quite a bit of different audio formats. The trick is not using the Sound class. You have to use net stream. I ended up using M4A and they worked perfectly
