Weekly Features

On behalf of other authors (since I won’t get any features until I submit AS3 files) I’d like to question the latest featured file. It’s a year old file which has done very well and is always top 5 of the week since being uploaded, so why feature it on the home page too? Surely that defeats the purpose of weekly features since it’s to promote new files, not old ones – regardless if it’s been updated or not. I’m not calling out the file, I think it’s awesome.. the point I’m making is should we feature files that are several months old that are continuously selling well.. shouldn’t it be reserved for new files that deserve the extra exposure?

The featured file is for great files. This certainly falls into that category. I’m sure when you were featured it was a popular file as well.

The same doubt here, this may cause the Matthew effect. Why not give the exposure to some newer file like the one P&K mentioned in the other thread.

Why not? Why So? Because. Even tomatoes take a long time to curate in science labs. And my donkey doesn’t call out the functions of a green tree frog without first acknowledging its place in the system. Fundamentally, that green tree frog is part of the same ecosystem as my donkey. Only from different parts. But they both play key roles in keeping the habitat healthy. And if that doesn’t make sense, then I’ll be glad to make another metaphor. I like green tree frogs.

Anyway Lance, not to suck up or anything, but I can understand your choice. Still, my awesome invisible image rotator file would be best for that position. You can’t see it, but you know its there.
