I just read the stir that the Web Service Licence causes on this thread:
Was some kind of fight in the henhouse
AJ team must explain it better to contributors and in the Pricing and Licensing Matrix section where Web Service Licence has less words than the others even it is a more complex licence that it’s open to misunderstanding.
I feel the Web Service Licence is not clear, it could be interpreted in so many different ways:
1- Buyer use a song as background music for a image gallery (i interpreted it this way first time I saw it)
2- Buyer resells the song as items in their own site (here the author cannot control how many times his song will be sold!)
3- Buyer includes the song in the site templates he sell (here the author cannot control how many sites will use his song!)
And you guys… chill… peace… sit and relax… stop clucking that way… we can discuss and suggest and help improve AJ together
Yio — web service license is ThemeForest-only for web themes and the like. Won’t be using that one here.
Yio — I think the people clucking are generally from other marketplaces (the global marketplace is one where all marketplace members can communicate regardless of which one you actually use).
It does bear repeating that you can opt not to offer the new licenses for sale. It’s been a feature request for a long time so I’m sure most people will make use of it in some way or another, but if you don’t want to, just turn it off.
