speaking for myself only, I don’t think I was engaging in “rude and unnecessary behavior” on the forum, but if I did, then I apologize to authors, buyers and envato staff.

Is time to take a break and focus on business only part.

Just saying goodbye for now to this awesome community :) keep up the good work!

Hi Doru

I’ve just read the thread and whilst I understand you feel a bit wounded by the comments, it wasn’t just aimed at you. I think Scott was just trying to support his fellow staff member which is admirable.

Sentences written in emails or in text messages can so easily be mis-read and be taken the wrong way. Please don’t take it too much to heart.

You are a valid and active member of the community, and besides if you stop now you won’t hit that 6000 posts mark!

looks like envato cannot handle the truth… I also decided to keep myself out of any further official staff-thread after reading scott’s post.

come back soon doru, you really deserve your superstar badge, and this community deserves your criticizing posts, as we all feel the same way.

I wish you much fun and success with your business while you remain silent :)

I have to agree with Themespirit here Doru and i hope you mean indeed a ’’break’’ which can be healthy but i would really be shocked if you meant you are going to be silent over issues, that is the direct opposite of what any healthy environment needs to grow/develop, especially in these times where everyone is already being so overly passive.

Hope to see you back soon! :)

Hi everyone. Please read my response carefully:

Opinions and feedback, both good and bad, are great. It’s welcomed. Keep them coming. We’re not stopping this. HOWEVER, and this is the main point: Expressing the same negative issues over and over to an excessive degree is not going to change anything and is not going to make a positive contribution to our community OR Marketplaces. Focus on today and the future, not the past. The same things are being said over and over and they’ve been duly noted and communicated internally for a very long time I can assure you.

The change and consequence of your feedback is that you should already be seeing way more staff than ever working on the projects that really matter (that you have been asking for), and staff being more transparent and open about the status of projects and inviting feedback from you on specific projects. It’s a great opportunity, grab it.

Some people are positive, some are negative. I like to think of myself as a realist. The reality for me in this great position I have of being able to see both sides of the fence from an author, buyer AND staff perspective, is that, the less time spent on unnecessary drama, the more results we can achieve more quickly. But we can only do that with trust. We trust you to continue to give us on-point, constructive ideas and feedback, and we hope you can trust us with improving the Marketplace experience. Some of you say that you don’t have that confidence in us, and while that personally saddens me, it actually motivates me to make sure we rebuild that confidence back in time and my team and I can promise you that we will continue to represent your questions and concerns and feedback internally.

I encourage everyone to stick around because some really good things are happening irrespective of whether that is believed or not. The only way to prove it is for us to show you. Please give us that chance. :)

@scottwills, The recent communications of new staff are great. But when they come to forums, almost every community member would expect that new staff went through basic idea about features and user feedbacks and most expected improvements. (It is impossible to expect a fresh new staff announcing about major features like Search)

In fact, when it comes to announcing MAJOR changes/improvements of marketplace, pushing new staffs to handle such tedious job is not something pleasant for users. As more and more new staffs share their “unfamiliarity” about obvious features, it happens that members swing away from their civilized zone. (those situations are temporary I guess )

The obvious expectation would be more experienced staff’s participation while receiving feedback and convey the same to new staff (every company does that, why not here). The ultimate goal is least possible talks + more understanding + optimum results.

Off topic, I feel I am certainly one of the member that was really rude with words (especially last week at its peak). I assure my understanding it in a positive way and assure more civilized conversation in the future.

Hey Scott,

the problem I see here, and I think that many authors will agree – is that we have again the feeling that you don’t listen to us. We have already told you what is needed in the last years, but still we get no results but threads where we should post our opinions, wanted features and feedback on something that is planned. I have the impression that we are far beyond the point that we shall tell you what is needed/wanted, and far beyond the point that you should know what you shall deliver.

It is great to have a better communication and please don’t think we don’t appreciate it – we do. But the rating thread is a good example: What was needed the most is a comment that goes along with 1-,2-,3-stars ratings. We know that, you should know that, buyers know that. We got half star rating delivered first, which is okay. But then you started to “collect data”, and from then on – nothing. 5 months since the last update, and yesterday we read that there is no code written, only planning.

What we are trying to express is: It’s fine that you want to make it perfect, but it would be much better if you just do it 95% perfect and then evaluate the problems based on that.

I think your post in the other thread can be as well said from one author to envato:

We hear you. You’ve been repeating the same thing [we are planning, there is no eta, we want to do it perfect, it’s in the pipeline, we are working on it] all over the forums on a regular basis which is why it was important I referenced this behavior which is not acceptable.[...] I would really appreciate it if you would refrain from posting the same [...] again anywhere in the forums.

Then another excerpt:

Buyers, authors, staff – all our time here is precious. The more time we can spend on getting things done instead of complaining about things is going to benefit our entire community and it’s going to benefit our entire Marketplace.

I would transform it into this:

Buyers, authors, staff – all our time here is precious. The more time we can spend on getting things done instead of endless planning and talking about things is going to benefit our entire community and it’s going to benefit our entire Marketplace.

Now my suggestion, as many times before. Make a survey, or a top list of wanted features like the website websmacker created ( http://nvato-ideas.websmacker.com ). Forum threads are too messy to get a good overview for you staff. It also can come to the unnecessary rude comments which a survey won’t get. No one gets upset, everythings fine.
