To all,

I would like to be able to review and rate files, even though I haven’t purchased them.

Also, it would be nice for some of the old ‘5-star’ files that have been buried in the mists of time to re-surface now and then, due to their high rating given to them by all who have viewed/listened to them, not only those who have purchased them. I imagined a system, similar to the one already in effect on the home page, whereby 4 or 5 star-rated files can be displayed randomly, changing at every page refresh. So as to not clutter up the homepage, however, it could be category-specific and displayed somewhere in each file category’s page.

Note – I typed “voting” and “rating” into the forum search box, just in case this had been discussed already, but it came up with over 16 pages of posts, and, not being bothered to search through them all, just posted it anyway. Sorry if this has been discussed already, and also, for the long post..

Thanks for reading!

Hey, no offense, but how would you be able to rate a file properly if you havent bought it, and used it…

Are you talking about rating based on appearance?

Yeah, I know what you mean xdozex. And I agree to a large extent.

But I think that that is the whole aim of the preview files in the first place, to give people a good idea of what their getting. Of course, the ratings from those who purchase the files should carry a bit more weight, or maybe even be in a separate rating system.

I am not a buyer from this site (at the moment), so I can’t say this too definitely, but I imagine that, if you want to purchase a file for your website, game etc. then you would like to be sure if that file will go down well with those who view your final product and I think that a public rating system might give more of an indication of that..

On the other hand, there are some potentially massive drawbacks to such a system of rating… Mainly, because people only tend to rate things that they feel strongly about, either 5 or 1 star.. and for many more reasons, which I wont go into now, cos I have already typed way more than I meant to initially and am rambling now…
