Removing the progress bar is not a bad idea, as it is not properly working anyway and I think this progress bar just makes the people go crazy when they are watching it for too long
Also, from time to time threads pop up with people being confused about the progress bar going backwards.
I hope this change will cure some of the addicted progress-bar-watchers
I think progress bar is better than the new solution because it shows you (approximately) how long it will take until your item will be reviewed.
I think there is no need for it. Why? Because, It doesn’t work good. If you say that it shows (roughly) how long it will take for item to be reviewed, than it is not working. Yesterday I had an item that was on 90% on that bar, but today is on 50% ? How comes that you go backward it process?
