U guys should host a envato debate show :)

Anyways tho i do agree that sometimes reviewers comments are a bit tricky but i have to be honest that they did change from the last time this kind of debate was opened.

I understand web-cultures frustration, since 99% of the answers are generic… and there is not enough comments for all the situations what mans that they have a list of answers from were they copy… but that doesn’t stop ton of authors, including myself to actually get approved.

So it can be done, i have a web development company and a perfect example was when i was looking for web graphic designer and tons of them shown on interview. I was amazed when some of them shown there work, which was very poor for the lack of the better non resentful and rude word :), and they were so shure of them self’s and could not be budged from that shurnes there was this girl that used tons of ugly old beveal and embos effects… almost default ones… and she actualy went on debate war with me over it… anyways that can be a painful experience specially on themeforest after review’s. but you have to take it in and try try again… sometimes you will get it right the first time sometimes the 10 th time :)

Anyways, hate typing so much, to bad we can’t be on some group voice :) long story short keep on trying! :)

Hi Anps,

Thanks for agreeing with some of what I am saying :)

I do know that getting a file accepted can be done and I have not given up.

You helped me with some of my design issues from the second time it was rejected so I am sure you know that I have accepted all criticism pretty well. I don’t think I am the worlds best designer and I think I have definitely learnt a lot from each rejection which is great. All I wish is that with each rejection came a little more clarity, as now I am unsure if the last 4 generic replies just mean the reviewer thinks I suck and should just give up or if he will ever accept the theme with any amount of changes.

I think I should have handled this post slightly differently as I know it did come off as an attack but it really is not intended to be.

I took a look at your template and if he just checked the screenshots I know why it is rejected (though, I have to agree that they have to, at least, be a little bit more specific when reviewing).

Your logo is the worst thing in your template, it doesn’t fit at all, remove it and keep it simple but stylish. Same error for your slider’s arrows & bullets, this style doesn’t fit. Your overall theme looks simple but too simple at the moment, try to make it a little more stylish but with no abuse of effects. I also see some spacing & alignment issues, if you look at your footer for example, you have three different alignments, why ? It makes it look a bit messy. (you have repeated this issue at some points, try to find it!)

Hope it helps ;)

Thanks arkgrafik, The logo is actually not the same as the one which was reviewed. It was a lot simpler and maybe boring. I am also not happy with the current logo but I am busy playing with new designs.

Slider navigation will be changed since you are the second person that has mentioned changing them.

I am slightly confused with the 3 different alignments in the footer comment. Archives , Recent Posts and Recent Comments are all aligned the same. Recent comments just does not have the triangle bullets, so guess I should add that.

I assume the other alignment issue is with recent posts, carousel and flicker widget.

Thanks for you reply, I will work on fixing.

Hey guys,

Just a quick explanation and a little perspective on what happened:

The core complaint here is that the live preview wasn’t looked at. This is true. But this is just standard protocol. Heuristics, if you will, to cut down on review time since we receive a massive number of submissions each day.

We usually check, the screenshots -> live preview -> download and install the included theme -> rest of review, in that order in order to judge the quality. Keep in mind that each subsequent step is attempted only if the previous step shows a quality enough design. Since the screenshot showed a noticeably low quality site and the live preview being down at the moment of reviewing, a judgement call was made, considering that a large number of earlier, trivial revisions were rejected due to lack of meaningful improvements.

The consensus here is that since the screenshots were old, and with the live preview down, we should have downloaded and installed the file. I don’t quite think that’s prudent, again, considering the traffic in the marketplace queues. The easiest way is to at least let the reviewer know that the screenshots are old so that he can download and check out the files. Including screenshots implies that it’s a static version of your design and we’re going to almost always check it first, for heuristics, unless noted otherwise.

Hopefully, this has cleared up any questions. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Thanks all!
