I think I know of a way to increase artists referrals.
Many people are afraid to click a link in a blog or email letter they receive because it may lead to a phishing site. Phishing sites typically use this tactic, in which they create a “copy” site that looks like the real thing, and “snag” people by using links to get them there. Then they either steal their information, or give them a virus.
It is likely that more people will sign up using referrals if they can come to the site themselves and use the artists name that referred them instead.
The best bet would be to allow people to choose to hit the link, or use the artist’s name that referred them when they sign up.
What do you guys and gals think? Good idea?
Personally I think it’s a great idea. Most people I tell about Envato is face to face. During the signup process they could simply put in your name, email address or something that identifies you as the referral. It would make the referral process much easier and fairer.
- Author had a File in an Envato Bundle
- Author was Featured
- Bought between 100 and 499 items
- Canada
- Exclusive Author
- Has been a member for 4-5 years
- Item was Featured
- Referred between 500 and 999 users
I think it would maybe be a good addition to the current system, but not a replacement. On average I get about 700 click throughs a month and about 8 new sign-ups….and I know there are others with a lot more then that.
My point is that I have referral links coming from all over the place and many who end up here don’t necessarily know they followed a referral link.
Also, some people have websites specifically created to advertise multiple authors and files – they are only after referrals….so again in this situation their many referred customers don’t even have a clue that they are technically being “referred”.
I think it’s a good idea, guitarjock
Tim I totally agree, I see it as just another way of expanding the current referral system. I don’t link we should be removing the current linking system.
Neat idea guitarjock.
I also think that it would be great as an addition to the current referral system, not as a replacement.
I don’t see why it shouldn’t be implemented soon.
Great idea!
