Suggestion for new file category

We’ve all seen it before, you upload a new file and see some consistent sales in the first few days. But it doesn’t last long because it only takes a week or so before it’s on page 7 of the file category, and the momentum is lost.

I’ve had this happen a few times in the past, and it always seems to be just short of getting my file into the weekly top sellers list. I have a suggestion that may help if the envato team was willing to consider it…

What if a new file category was added under the “all files” tab. It could be titled “top new files” and list just the top selling files that were uploaded the previous week. This would allow authors to continue the momentum they were having in creating a top selling new file for the week, giving them the opportunity to jump up to the regular top sellers. It would also provide buyers with another top selling page to choose from.

Just an idea, what do you guys think?

Love it. I remember discussing this before on the forums. Also, Jake, when we were at the Nashville meetup, I discussed this very same idea more with Scott Wills and he thought it was a good idea. One other thing he had mentioned that he wanted to eventually have was a spot on the homepage that would post real-time updates of items that were just bought. So you would refresh the page and the last 1 or 2 bought AJ items (or whatever marketplace you were on) would be shown. I love any way that helps spread the exposure around to more authors!

Hey Phil, that’s another great idea! I’m glad Scott mentioned it, I agree the more exposure the better. Looking forward to these changes, AJ is on the way UP!
