hi recently i send and email with my prices for customization jobs, client post here in forum he need help with customization,he respond this
“Here at projectX we are happy to know you will like to help but we have guys working on it for free sorry From Sky”
WTF !!! please people respect yourself and charge for your work. Thanks
I understand if you have project and client who purchase your product need small changes (like 5 min) to do for free but in this case …
Yes gfxmotion, I completely agree with you. I have also experienced things like these where I was not given the project because some one was willing to do it for free.
I do not understand why people would do a project for nothing?
Unless they are students, which in that case, you get what you pay for
...and i’m sure they’ll get what they pay for
Not really worth getting upset about, people will always exist that offer something for free. lucky for you, you’ll always have paying clients because you value your work enough to put a price on it, and your clients will value you enough to pay for it
“great designers are the ones who find the great clients”
Maybe he had too much money, so give it for free customization.
Twice on the last month we have been asked to (and charged for) resolving issues caused by people editing or “fixing” themes from here for free – as UBL rightfully said – you get what you pay for!
Agree with one thing:
The people work for the money.
Don’t work for free. Is bad for you and for us.
Altough I’m also catching myself applying for small jobs here on the forums I would say we should generally don’t allow such threads here on the forums. The reason is actually the same which goes for “self-promotion” or “giving away freebies”. It is also simply because themeforest is a marketplace for digital products and not for services – therefore there are absolutly no rules and no guidelines which makes it all somehow wild.
I think those topics should be closed with a link that quality freelancers can be found on freelanceswitch.com. Also if it is just a customization for an existing theme or template.
I have no problem with people working for free, I did it when I graduated and there are a whole heap of people working in unpaid internships just to get a foot on the ladder, be it in the creative industries or any other profession.
As a lot of people on here have already said, you get what you pay for and there are a load of clients/companies/start-ups who don’t value the profession and don’t want to pay for the skill set and the education. They’l quickly come running back to you (the paid professional) when they have the budget to do so and the desire to have something worth paying for.
