Dear friends!

We’ve seen a couple of threads here on Audiojungle about promoting yourself. That is good and all but lately it’s gotten a bit out of hand. A few authors from this community is spamming their work on certain hashtags that me and others look at for interesting topics on the subject. I don’t want to write the hashtag since some people might think it’s a good idea to follow the trend.

Neither will I name and shame, but please, if you know that you’re one of them I ask that you reconsider the frequency.

Sincerely

/Reach

Hahahahahaha! No.

Be nice, you’re a neighbour god damn you.

To be honest, some authors have contacted me in person and I’ve told them what this is about. Friends in the industry started tweeting to each other about how annoying it was and that’s the reason for this thread.

:reallyevil:

Hi, I am new to Twitter and don’t really understand what you mean? I only ask in case I am doing it without knowing… I am going onto Twitter and looking at how other people “tweet” and basically doing the same… Twitter is a big learning curve for me. I am using hash tags i.e. #audiojungle… Is this what you mean?

Cheers

Hey Richspeller!

I haven’t seen you at the specific hashtag so don’t worry. In hindsight I could have included some that I don’t refer to. To be little less vague, it’s an industry that I’m heavily involved in, and it’s not #audiojungle.

This post was not intended to keep from posting at all with certain hashtags, merely to limit the amount. I was hoping for a friendly discussion here about what would be considered spamming. A few of us were talking about it over Twitter a while back. There were different opinions, some said “not more than ones a day” and others talked about “not more than ones a week”. That is, promoting your product/service for the sake of it.

Chime in people! :)

i got your tweet to my feed and ive read all your thoughts on the matter but im really sorry i just dont agree at all on this.

i post links and tag my page and my work either every day or every other and for me its working out really well. For those who dont want me in there feed, they are welcome to unfollow me directly but as for common tags etc, i can certainly live with the fact that im coming up in all the common searches as a result but im quite proud of my industry reputation.

Its taken me many years to build and i have a great deal of friends and colleagues in the business and as far as im aware, im respected for what i do and how i go about doing it.

as for spamming as you put it.i make sure im using all the mediums that are presented to me.its a highly saturated market and its a case of having to fight to stay in the top area where you can be seen. if you dont generate a constant buzz about what you do, then frankly with all i have learned over 23 years of making music, you die in the water.i get a lot of tv work separate to AJ by promoting constantly with my new cues and projects im undertaking.

the work pays for my mortgage,it raises my family and its been a very positive aspect for me industry-wise. if a few library agents, music supervisors etc are hacked off cos im always in the hash tag trends, im sorry but i can sleep remarkably well regardless. its a business for me as much as anyone else.Twitter is a global means to reach out and thats what im doing and yes, often.
