Yes, I have made such a request for one of my items and the price was increased. But it was a small move – from $13 to $17, a few months later staff increased all prices in the category and it went $20. 
The item that you want to purchase must have been very underestimated to see a + $10 rise in one day.

No I wanted the theme the wholetime, if you read my other comments you will see I just didn’t have the funds. I was like $3 and some change off from having the $50 bucks.
But either way the theme sucks and is buggy as hell (go figure). Going to be asking for yet “another” refund and I’ve found a different theme outside of Envato that is going to suit our needs a bit better.

xstortionist maybe the developer of that item was not satisfied with the item price and requested a price increase. You saw it with it’s first price, then the price was reviewed and updated.
As part of the Elite program Elite authors have the option to adjust the prices of some of their themes. However, all authors can ask for a price review via support. Hope this helps
