Hi there
We got for the studio a very nice Neumann U87 , got a good deal on it but we didn’t get a shock mount. Looking online for one we realized that if we take it from Neumann will cost around 300 Eur :O
Come on !!! a normal shock mount costs around 30 Eur, really just for the name “Neumann” should you pay 10 times more ???

So… anyone know a more “budget friendly” shock mount that would fit a U87 ?

Hi Mihai!

At first, congratulations for purchasing one of the best and classical mikes all over the world :-)

I did a little bit of research, yes truely, the original is really expensive! On Ebay you get some cheap looking replicas made in china, I wouldn’t recommend them.

The only thing that could be interesting for you is this one:

U87 shockmount

I don’t know if it’s good or not, just check it out!

My other advise is just look from time to time on ebay marketplace for a used original one, as I think it would be the best one of course for such a superlative mike!

These are my 2 cents,

good luck for your search!

Cheers,

Ulf

This is too funny!!! I have been looking for this EXACT thing this week! It’s my main vox mic as well. I have the mount, but the strings are over streached from time and gravity. If you find an awesome place to get them online let me know – and I will do the same for you. So far, no luck, very difficult to find.

I had to say it – a missing shock mount for a $3400 mic is a pretty nice problem to have :)

I am envious of you guys. I like my SM7 for vocals, but always wonder what that next step up would be like. I guess I’ll just have to get them all and find out :)
