Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to AJ so have only just gotten around to experimenting with searches and my music items. After reading this post I thought I’d give it a try, and something is definitely broken.
So far I’ve only investigated one of my songs “A Hopeful Note”. I will say some of the search terms I tried come up pretty favorably (usually using the more obscure keywords I chose), but some searches come up with nothing, even though the search terms are either in my description or keywords (or both).
For example, if I search “hopeful” I come up on the 3rd or 4th page, which is totally fine. If I search “hopeful guitar” I get bumped maybe a page forward. Cool. If I search “hopeful nostalgic”, even better (albeit a more obscure search term combo). Yet if I search “nostalgic guitar”, I do not show up at all (out of 256 results). Technically my item keyword is “acoustic guitar” so I also tried “nostalgic acoustic guitar” and it’s still not on the list (out of 121 results). That is just bizarre. Even more bizarre, if I then search “nostalgic guitar hopeful”, I’m back on the list (#1 whoo!)
I’m sure there are other similar issues like this out there. I happy I got my item to pop up in some targeted searches, but there are definitely bugs out there…

Hi all, just a quick update here that the search pagination bug has been fixed. Please let us know if you notice any other abnormal functionality. Thanks!

The “Relevancy” search algorithm is using just the song title to bring up results opposed to whatever algorithm it was using before.
This problem was originally spotted in this thread then fixed http://audiojungle.net/forums/thread/totally-different-search-results/59002I can’t imagine this change is intentional? Most authors agree that this search function is a bit broken and very inaccurate. Especially because now everyone will name their songs with 1-2 keywords to pop up on page one in search results. Basically tracks without keywords in their names get buried or don’t even appear.

I agree. This is why you will find 1001 tracks with EPIC or CORPORATE in the item name. A serious search engine would realy be needed to help also new authors selling their work.
Thanks to the whole dev team for your help and effort on this issue.

Search now completely ignores tags and song descriptions.

+100. The current search engine will create a future scenario that will arrive here quickly. In that scenario, a buyer enters a search term or two and receives page after page of identically-titled tracks. Search engine results are obviously important to authors and this will be the only way to get high in the search results. This scenario will make for a one-dimensional and stale-looking marketplace which I don’t believe is in line with Envato’s goals. Originality and creativity in a title now create a massive disadvantage for authors.
