Sample Rate & Bit Rate Changes (Effective from August 23rd)

Hey guys,

UPDATE : NEW REQUIREMENTS GO LIVE ON AUGUST 23 , 2010.

Following on from your feedback in an earlier discussion (thank you to everyone who contributed!), we will be making some changes to the Sample Rate and Bit Rate requirements. This is an early heads-up for a change that will soon be taking place. It’s not required right now, but I encourage you to start processing your files this way in preparation for the imminent change. I will let you know as soon as the change officially takes place and I will update this thread.

Sample Rate Standardization

We are going to be standardizing the Sample Rate of ALL submissions to 44.1 kHz. This means, no more 48 kHz submissions or any other variations for that matter.

Audio Resolution Standardization

All audio MUST be 16-bit Stereo. 24-bit or any other resolution will no longer be allowed.

Bit Rate Standardization

We are also going to be standardizing the requirements for mp3 content. All mp3 content MUST have a Bit Rate of 320 kbps. Submissions containing 128 kbps or any other variation will no longer be allowed.

Easier & Quicker

This will make uploading content a little easier for authors – you will no longer need to enter the Sample Rate (that so many people get confused with). You will not need to enter the Bit Rate either. We will be making changes to the upload form so that it clearly states what is required + you will not have to enter these values ever again.

IMPORTANT : These changes are NOT officially live yet. Please consider this merely as a heads-up/warning. Please use this as a recommendation to start formatting any NEW audio files NOW so that by the time we go live, you’ll already be in a good routine to have your new/future files ready in the correct format. You DO NOT have to update existing files in your AudioJungle portfolio unless you want to.

Just in case, this will not be applied to the files we already have in our portfolio right ? (Is not my case, all my files meet the standards, but I think someone could ask the same).

What about the mp3 preview files ? We still can upload them in other bit rates or the previews should also must be uploaded at 320 kbps ? I usually upload the previews in 160 kbps.

Correct – there’s no need to change any existing files.

No changes/standardizations to preview file requirements – it just needs to be in mp3 format.

hey scott, another thing… I saw on codecanyon a thread written by Jeffrey, he wrote about sugesting a file from your own portfolio for the Envato Birthday Bundle….

do you do the same for AJ too?
