Sales after new search system

I was all for new categories that included just code, but I didn’t mean take over the entire site (or the front page, rather, where 50% of the sales originate from). It’s still ThemeForest… that’s why Envato should have made a CodeCave or something.

That’s how I’m beginning to feel about the sound effects on AudioJungle. One author sandbags a bunch of little bleeps and barking dogs and pushes all the new music off the front page. Maybe make separate tabs for music and SFX on the home page of the jungle. That could be a good workaround for ThemeForest too.

Tabs are definitely the answer to this on-going issue running through these sites – I mentioned it as a request on a forum post the other day and had many people agree – right now it’s just confusing to buyers on what this place sells – needs to be organized quickly before it starts to hurt sales I think… but hey – it’s not my site

Tabbed front page?

That’s a fantastic idea for Video Hive too. Creating a project file is a major undertaking – often fairly long duration, with all of its built in user adjustability, music, sound effects, detailed help files etc.

Before you take that plunge, you really need to seriously consider if there’s going to be any significant number of sales. That makes it annoying when three weeks of planning, animating, coding, help file writinng etc. is pushed off the home page within days, by 20 new variations of light effects. I’ve got nothing against light effects, but they take a fraction of the time or effort.

I reckon there’d be a lot more people taking the plunge with big, ambitious project files if the front page imbalance were sorted out. Otherwise, there’s an enormous lure to simply knock out more and more motion graphic files as quickly as possible.

In the long run, to maintain and encourage high quality, Video Hive needs to nurture and support things that take a bit more trouble to create.

Oh and by the way… my sales are much more erratic since the new search system.

I was getting a steady trickle of one or two sales a day. Now it goes from best day ever to nothing at all for three days etc.

Overall, slightly down – but I’m hoping that’s the summer in action!

robGD that’s an amazing idea….. and its exactly like that, if people need SFX they listen to them easily just by switching the tab to SFX

My sales have gone up it seems. I doubt its because of the tags as my item is the only one of its kind on FD. I think it might be because I included some new features in the last update that many people waited for.

My Sales went high, I even have an item that topped my best seller in 3 days time, the update is amazing

After this system, at me became less sales
