Hi AJ authors, I need your advice. Before using x64 bit OS I used Musicrow Piano Trilogy, and Edirol Orchestral, but they are not available for x64 systems as I know. Please share, what instruments do you use for piano and strings with x64 bit OS and host
I don’t know how about x64 bit OS, but the best for me is Alicia Keys’s Piano library for NI Kontakt 5. And for the strings – Session Strings library for NI Kontakt too.
Hi! You can buy several libraries, such as
Tonehammer – Emotional Piano ($139 only) “Best piano library (IMHO)”
AudioBro – LA Scoring Strings (Full $999) “Best strings library (IMHO)”
And this libraries you can use with Kontakt 5×64bit
For the moment, Kontakt works well for me. I bought a Komplete package and I have there Berlin Piano, New York Piano, Vienna and Upright. Those, being produced by Native Instruments, will work in the free Kontakt Player.
I recommend getting the Kontakt Player and see how works on your computer before you buy it. Also, the free version comes with a bunch of free instruments quite useful.
For orchestral stuff, Edirol Orchestral used to be one of the great solutions, providing instruments, groups suitable for different arrangements, 3D instrument placing on stage… Too bad that they kind of dropped the product
Anyway, Kontakt might save you again.
From the default VSL library to whatever you may find (ProjectSAM Orchestral Essentials, 8Dio Adagio, Cinesamples, Albion…), you have many options.
If you don’t want to use Kontakt, here, AcousticSamples, powered by UVI Workstation. They have some of the best pianos (to my taste).
I was impressed with AcousticSamples Kawai-EX PRO Concert Grand Piano…it’s multiformat so I guess you can use it with many samplers..

Oh, and there’s Pianoteq which is worth a sniff
Pianoteq has the huge advantage that it is very light on resources. It sounds quite good and you don’t need Kontakt, but I prefer the sound of a sampled piano. I own Alicia Keys Piano library. It has a really nice and versatile sound. I tend to use Tonehammers Emotional Piano more often though, because I just love the cinematic sound of it. Cinesamples Piano in Blue certainly is worth a look as well.
Thanks friends for your replies, now I have many variants to consider, a kind of problem too to choose most suitable for my needs
